Look for Welcome Letters this week!
Dear Students, Parents and Friends of THMS,
We hope that you are enjoying the last weeks of summer vacation and that you are beginning to look forward to meeting new friends and teachers this fall. A welcome letter with the information that follows along with your student's homeroom advisor will be mailed out tomorrow. Please read this letter carefully, as it contains important information for your first days of school.
The first day of school for all students is Monday, August 30th. School doors open at 7:20 a.m. for students to go to breakfast or homeroom and we ask that no students be dropped off before that time. The school day will begin at 7:40 a.m. and dismissal time is at 2:15 p.m. Note that these times have changed a bit from previous years to accommodate a shift in our transportation plan.
We have been asked for school supply lists, but would suggest that you limit supplies to basic essentials. To avoid hallway crowding we will not be using lockers again this year. Students may carry a bag or backpack. A binder or a couple of spiral bound notebooks, pens, and pencils should be sufficient to start. A good deal of our documents are shared digitally through Google Classroom using student laptops.
Please check the school’s website at https://thms.rsu71.org/ for grade level academy and fall athletic information. Please go to our district website https://www.rsu71.org/ for more information regarding COVID safety protocol. We’ll share more information as decisions are still being made.
Although we must approach this with caution, know that we are excited about the upcoming year and the opportunity to continue to carry out in-person learning in as safe a way as we can.
Respectfully,
Bruce Bailey, Principal
Alta Seekins, Assistant Principal
