Please Read this Important Notification from THMS

Dear Staff, Students, and Families, This letter is to inform you that Maine CDC is opening an outbreak investigation of COVID-19 at Troy Howard Middle School. An outbreak means that there are three or more cases of COVID-19 within a 14-day period. At this time, there is no evidence of transmission within the school. Based on recommendations from the Maine CDC, we are continuing with routine cleaning and no other special measures must be taken at this time. As we should always be doing, please monitor yourself/your student for signs and symptoms. Call a health care provider if any symptoms start. It is important that you call a healthcare facility before you show up in person. Signs and symptoms include: • fever or chills • new loss of taste or smell • cough • sore throat • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing • congestion or runny nose • fatigue • nausea or vomiting • muscle or body aches • diarrhea • headache Maine CDC or a school representative will contact you directly if you are identified as a close contact of someone who tested positive.RSU 71 is not at liberty to divulge specific information about a person whohas tested positive. As a community, please be respectful of one another and mindful of factual information. Call a health care provider for questions about your symptoms.
